SUMMARY: "After walking in on something elder brother'd rather his innocent, virgin eyes not see, Fletcher gets 'the birds and the bees' talk."
AUTHORS NOTE: This is my first FMA fanfiction. :O I adopted the plot bunny from
Walking into the den, Russell glanced at his brother. Fletcher was sitting on the couch, his back as straight as a board, determinedly reading a book. Russell was pretty sure the kid wasn't reading at all; he had not turned the page for five minutes and the book itself was upside down. He sighed.
Stepping behind the couch, he stooped down over him and took the book from his hands. Fletcher whined but did not make a move to grab it back.
"Brother, I was reading that."
"Really? I didn't know you could read upside down," he said, shutting the text with a snap and placing it aside. Fletcher didn't look at him. He sighed. "Something's bothering you."
"No..." his brother mumbled faintly as Russell came to sit beside him on the couch.
"Come on, Fletch, tell me what's wrong."
His brother remained silent, his brows furrowed and mouth twisted into an adorable little pout. Not in the least bit deterred, Russel put a comforting arm around him, holding him tight to his side. He expected Fletcher to burrow into his chest like a kitten and return the hug like he usually did - imagine his surprise when he pulled away!
"Fletcher!" Russel exclaimed as the boy got to his feet. "What on earth is the matter?"
"I... I saw," Fletcher said in a low, horrified voice, his eyes growing wide, covering his face with his fingers.
"Saw?" Russell was still left in the cold. "Saw what?"
"What you did," Fletcher whispered as if explained everything.
It didn't.
"What I did? Fletcher, you're making no -"
" - last night." he flushed. "You -,"
Now it was Russell’s turn to widen his eyes. What... oh.
Oh!
But Fletcher knew, if not in any great detail, about his relationship with Edward Elric, the FullMetal Alchemist, didn't he. He certainly came over enough after-hours - and Russell himself certainly bore tell-tale love marks on his neck, hidden under clothing but sometimes carelessly revealed - to hint that their relationship wasn't strictly professional. Didn't he?
"Fletcher," he said, leaning forward. "You do know that Edward and I are boyfriends, don't you?" As he said the word, Russell imagined Ed's violate reaction at being called such. He smiled.
"Well, yeah," and at this, Fletcher rubbed the back of his neck. He scrunched up his nose. "I mean, I know you kiss and... and stuff."
Lord, to be that innocent.
"Yes," Russell confirmed. "We love each other very much."
Fletcher mumbled something under his breath, glancing away.
"What was that, Fletcher?"
"I said -," Fletcher's voice began to tremble, “- if you love him, why did you hurt him, then?"
"Hurt him?" Russell's voice trailed off. He was lost again. "Fletcher, I haven't hurt Edward..."
Hell, if anyone was to hurt anyone, it would be him! Far be it for me to complain, though...
"You were!" Fletcher almost howled, finger pointing accusingly at him. "He was crying and... and..."
Russel laughed. He couldn't help it.
Fletcher, he felt like saying, those weren't tears of pain!
"And - and," Fletcher continued, his voice nearly a shriek. "You were doing something to him and - and it looked like you were hurting him! You were making these sounds -,"
"Fletcher, calm down," Russel said, trying to himself. Swallowing his mirth, he patted the seat of the sofa next to him and gave his brother the gentlest smile he could. "Come on, sit next to me." Looking into Fletcher's face, he saw his face was flushed and his eyes were shiny. Russell sighed. It was now or never.
God help me.
"Do you know what Ed and I were doing?" he asked slowly, delicately. Fletcher shook his head, his lower lip trembling. The poor kid really doesn't know. "Okay, Fletcher. When two people love each other very much, like me and Edward, they fu - fu - erm," he caught his language. "They make love."
"What's that?" Fletcher whispered, his eyes orbs. Russell sighed, scratching the back of his head.

His younger brother boggled at him.
"I thought only a man and a woman could do that," Fletcher said quietly and Russell shifted uncomfortably. He had just made the situation of explaining sex infinitely more embarrassing.
"Well, no. You see, Fletch," He would not blush. He would not blush! "Men have..." he choked. "... holes too."
Dammit.
"Oh." Fletcher said, very quietly, and Russel sprung forward in the conversation, blathering. "It doesn't hurt; well, the first time it does but you get used to it. And it's a sign of love; only people who are very much in love do it. It feels really good; it's kind of like saying 'I love you' with your cuh- cuh - erm, body." Russell felt his face flush again. He looked at his silent younger brother desperately. "I wasn't hurting Edward, I was loving him."
"Oh." Fletcher said again, trying to wrap his mind around what Russell had just told him. His expression suddenly brightened. "So... that makes Edward a woman, right?"
OMAKE (Ending?):
"A WOMAN?" Ed squawked.
"He's only ten years old," Russell tried to soothe, planting a kiss on his shoulder. "He doesn't know any different, babe."
"I am not a pig," Ed sulked, but cuddled into Russell's embrace readily, anyway. "Don't call me that."
"What would you like to be called then?" Russell buried his face into his lover's golden hair. "Sweedums? Sexy beast? Fuck toy?"
"I like the last one," Ed sighed. "It has a nice ring to it."
"Oh, it certainly does," Russell smiled into his shoulder, trailing a hand over Edward's hip and lower, caressing the short, golden hairs that edged his groin. His voice was teasing. "Besides, with a body, voice and equipment like that, you'd have to be blind, deaf and dumb to call you a woman."
"Woman," Ed grumbled, pushing Russell onto his back and clambered with his usual Edward Elric grace on top of him. His golden eyes twinkled down at him. "Really? I'll show you who's the fucking woman here."
